The eyes, ears, mind, & heart are the real tools that people seem to undervalue nowadays. Seeing so much focus everywhere on things like gear, social media numbers, and trends. Results-oriented mindsets can be helpful but should be kept in check. When there’s no enjoyment in the process, the desire to create slowly dies. There’s something incredibly engaging about working within limitations, being in the here & now and creating something genuine.

Traveled to Southern California with some friends from Illinois. Socal has always been a familiar place in my life & it was also a new experience for my undergrad friends, so it was pretty cool seeing the two worlds collide.

We weren’t in the mood to plan in detail so we only planned transportation/accommodation and decided to wing the rest.

Going through that week with vague plans was a nice change of pace, especially coupled with the ridiculously laid-back vibe of our environment.
The week was busy yet rejuvenating -- two words I wouldn't usually use together.

I took the shot above on my phone -- it was the day I drove down to SD from the Bay & I think we were at the beach chillin'/trying to find a bathroom LOL.

Honestly, there’s something special about going minimal and shooting around with nothing but a phone camera. It’s just so capable of producing candid photos and I personally love shooting with the 28mm focal length.
